![]() If only playing with software simulation I suggest Boxsim as a good program to cut your speaker design teeth on. This will ensure that your money spent has a predictable and guaranteed outcome. So to recap I suggest you look at pre developed kits for the best results. Unfortunately many people chase the drivers with all the bells and whistles, but at the end of the day a well designed kit that has been practically tested and voiced will trump so called "exotic drivers" every time. (I have been using an advanced version of this for years to further develop and tweak existing kits and new designs ) They also offer an amazing simulation software (BOXSIM) as a free download. They have the largest anechoic chamber in Europe and their kits are amazing out the box.Besides all scientific measurements, well chosen driver combinations (all in house) the kits are also fine tuned with a very capable listening panel. This makes for a very formidable speaker that can challenge the best commercial offerings out there. I am obviously biased towards Visaton kits as I have been using their products for 28 years with great success. My advice would be to purchase a kit that has already been developed completely by someone or a Company.Īs you seem keen on Scanspeak drivers,I would recommend looking at Troels Gravesen kits ( ) Unless you have the equipment and time ,the chances of getting the crossover right are at best minimal.Ĭrossover theory and a good sounding loudspeaker have very little in common. You can use the theory as a start point, but the ultimate configuration will need hours of measurement and testing to get the desired outcome. ![]() ![]() ![]() However I'm going to be brutally frank with you. ![]()
